| The Armoury was established in January 2008 by Cassandra Smith and Jessica Steeber, and is located inside Milwaukee's historic "Fortress" building just north of downtown. Having returned in January from six months travelling abroad, the pair are ready for a new challenge. "The Armoury" was inspired by The Armoury at the Moscow Kremlin, previously a weapons factory, the Armoury now houses the Soviet national treasures - and remains one of the most inspiring places from the six months. The gallery will promote upcoming and semi-established local, national and someday international artists creating dynamic, challenging work in a variety of media. The gallery will also encourage installation work, aiming to create a unique dialogue between the art, the artist, the gallery and the viewer. |
